[Star of the Week] The Evolution of SNSD: From School Girl Crushes to Getting the Boy
When Girls' Generation (SNSD) made its debut in 2007, the members were just a couple of lollipop-toting teenage girls singing about puppy love, but fast forward six years, and these ladies are still singing about love - but with a whole lot of sass. From shy girls to the coy temptresses, SNSD has been charming the boys since day one, and we're looking back on how they did it. Because we could all probably learn a thing or two from the girls.

Into the New World
SNSD stepped onto the K-Pop scene in 2007 with it's debut single Into the New World, and the group's image was as squeaky clean as the pristine white track jackets and tennis skirts the girls donned onstage.
The girls followed suit with Girls' Generation, Kissing You and Baby Baby, all songs that played up the girls' innocent appeal.
Not only was SNSD a rookie group on the K-Pop scene, the girls were also singing about being rookies when it came to love.

Gee
SNSD's 2009 hit Gee continued in the same vein lyrically, as the girls sang about butterflies-in-your-stomach kind of crushes, but long gone were the frumpy Into the New World track suits and silly lollipops of its Kissing You days.
The girls stepped out in tight tees, skinny jeans and heels for the I-look-cute-without-trying concept.
If the girls looked as naive as they were during their debut days, the SNSD members knew they were cute this time around and every member's wink, wide-eyed stare and shoulder shimmy was a calculated move on the girls' part, and it was pretty convincing. The boys were head over heels for SNSD.

Genie
Gee marked SNSD's transition from cute to devilishly cute, but the girls were out to shed their naive image once and for all, transforming into coy temptresses with the aptly titled hit song Genie.
Singing 'Tell me your wish,' the girls said so long to school-girl crushes and hello to making every boy's wish come true.
We even heard the girls' singing styles shift from the nasally, aegyo-induced sound of Gee to the deep, tantalizing tones in Genie.

Oh!
Having convinced the boys that they can be sexy, it was time for the SNSD members to remind the world that they can still be cute on cue with their next single Oh!.
The girls fulfilled every boy's fantasy of being called 'Oppa' with the song - and in cheerleading outfits at that.
The boys, obviously, went wild.

Run Devil Run
To contrast the bright and bubbly concept of Oh!, SNSD released the 'Black Soshi' concept song Run Devil Run two months later.
The girls slipped into tight body suits and leather jackets, drew on the cat eyes and prowled across the stage to set the wayward boys straight.
From the good guys to the bad boys, no member of the male species could escape SNSD at this point.

Hoot
When we said no boy could escape SNSD, we weren't kidding as the girls were out to strike with Hoot, bow and arrow in tow.
The girls were back to being playful with the song's retro concept that once again showcased the members' cute, yet sexy charms.

The Boys
“We bring the boys out.”
Forget about being coy. The lyrics in 2011 hit The Boys said it all, the girls dripping in confidence about their ability to get any boy they want
From the pounding beat to the knockout choreography, The Boys packed a powerful punch with a splash of glamour.
Some of the girls even tried their hand at rapping to express the in-your-face confidence of the song.

I Got a Boy
It's 2013 now, and having proven they can work cute, sexy and confident anytime, anywhere, SNSD's latest single I Got a Boy expresses the nonchalance that comes with knowing that you have every boy at your fingertips.
In fact, the girls are all about letting loose on stage with this upbeat song.
Nothing says laidback like hip hop, and from the girls' hip hop-inspired outfits to the dance breaks in between, we can tell the SNSD girls just wanna have fun.
We know all of their songs brought the boys out, but which concept was your favorite?
